Johnnie Neptune is a personal project based on a previous character concept I created last year. I have been interested in mixing interesting humanoid characters with bold fashion from historical subcultures- in this case, glam rock. I find that giving a typically malicious character (i.e. demon) a playful self-expression adds to the feeling of unease and unpredictability of the character's persona, similar to how clowns induce an unsettling reaction. There is something untrustworthy about frivolity and spontaneity that suggests that a character is a trickster and would happily betray you.
I was going for a semi-stylised approach and a moderately low poly count.

This character has 9.5k tris and four 4k texture maps (base colour, normal, metalness and roughness.)
The textures were created by hand painting the base colour in photoshop and applying procedural textures in substance painter.
